Card Centering Checker
Upload or take a photo of the front of your card. The tool finds the card edges and the inner artwork border and measures left/right and top/bottom centering. It then shows the highest PSA grade that centering alone allows.
Private by design: your photo is processed only in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
For an accurate result: lay the card flat on a plain, contrasting background. Shoot straight down from directly above, with even light and no glare. Angled or curved photos skew the borders.
Measure
Solid cyan lines = outer card edges. Dashed pink lines = inner artwork border. Drag any line with your finger or mouse.

PSA uses the most off-center direction.
Centering only, not a grade prediction. This is the best grade front centering allows. Corners, edges, surface and the back of the card (PSA allows 75/25 on the back for a 10 and 90/10 for most other grades) also count, and graders may allow a little leeway for eye appeal.

Good centering is only half the decision. Check whether grading pays after fees with the Pokémon grading calculator or the sports card calculator. For corners, edges, surface and qualifiers, read our PSA grading standards guide.
PSA front centering tolerances
| Grade | Max front centering |
|---|---|

| PSA 9 | ≈60/40 |
| PSA 8 | ≈65/35 |
| PSA 7 | ≈70/30 |
| PSA 6 | 80/20 |
| PSA 5 and 4 | 85/15 |
| PSA 3 and 2 | 90/10 |
| PSA 1.5 | ≈90/10 |
"≈" marks grades where PSA says "approximately." PSA 1 has no centering limit. Source: PSA, Grading Standards, accessed Oct 16, 2026. Full details in our PSA grading guide.
FAQ
How do I measure card centering?
Compare the border widths on opposite sides of the card front. Divide the wider border by the two borders combined. A left border of 2.2 mm and a right border of 1.8 mm is 55/45. This tool measures both directions from your photo and uses the worse one.
What centering does a PSA 10 need?
PSA's grading standards say a PSA 10 Gem Mint must be centered within approximately 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the back. A PSA 9 allows approximately 60/40 on the front and 90/10 on the back.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The photo is opened and measured entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded, stored or sent to our server or anyone else.
Does this tool predict my PSA grade?
No. It only checks front centering. Corners, edges, surface, print quality and the back of the card all affect the grade, and PSA graders may allow a small variance for eye appeal. Treat the result as the best grade centering alone would allow.
How do I take a good photo for the centering checker?
Lay the card flat on a plain, contrasting background and shoot straight down from directly above, so the card's edges are parallel to the photo's edges. Take it out of a thick top loader if glare or the holder's edge hides the border, and use even light with no shadows.
