Should I Grade My Van Gogh Pikachu?
Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat · SV Black Star Promos SVP 085 · Promo
Short answer: Only if a PSA 10 sells for more than $1,258.80. At today’s raw price of $1,000.59, PSA Express grading ($199.00, the cheapest level whose $2,500 max value covers the recent PSA 10 median and that sale), $25.00 shipping and 13.25% selling fees break even at that graded sale price. Recent PSA 10 sales clear that bar (see the sold comps). Check your card’s centering before you pay to grade, and remember many cards come back a 9 or lower.

Median eBay sold prices for Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat by PSA grade, from sales listed on PriceCharting[6] in the 90 days to Oct 20, 2026. Each sale there links to its eBay listing. These are real sales, not our estimates. Grades with fewer than 3 sales are not shown.

| PSA 8 | $825.00† | 22 | Sep 6 – Oct 19 |

Break-even check: the PSA 10 median, $2,487.50[6], is $1,228.70 above this page’s $1,258.80 break-even, so a PSA 10 selling at that price would beat selling raw.
Our take: At the recent PSA 10 median ($2,487.50), a 10 would net about $1,065.89 more than selling raw at the $1,000.59 TCGplayer price, after PSA Express grading ($199.00), $25.00 shipping and 13.25% selling fees. At the PSA 9 median ($899.99), a 9 would net about $192.26 less than selling raw (PSA Priority, $79.99, since PSA’s fee is based on the card’s value after grading; if it comes back a 10, PSA charges Express). Grading only pays if your chance of a 10 is better than about 15% (assuming anything less comes back a 9, which is optimistic), so submit only sharp, well-centered copies.[6]
PSA population
PSA has graded 111,026 copies; 48,441 are PSA 10s (43.6% gem rate) and 51,681 are PSA 9s. That means most graded copies (56.4%) did not get a 10, so check that a PSA 9 sale would still beat selling raw before you count on a 10.

- This promo was made for the Pokémon x Van Gogh Museum collaboration (September 28, 2023 to January 7, 2024). It was given out for completing the museum’s Pokémon Adventure activity and offered as a gift with Pokémon Center x Van Gogh Museum purchases while stocks lasted.[1][3]
- In October 2023 the museum stopped handing the card out in person, citing visitor and staff safety after incidents involving resellers.[2]
- We found no reputable, card-specific grading guidance for this promo, so check it as you would any card: centering, corners, edges and surface. See the general guidance below and our PSA grading guide.
- General guidance for any card: PSA says a Gem Mint 10 needs four sharp corners, full original gloss, no staining and centering within about 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the back.[4] Measure yours with the centering checker and read the PSA grading guide before you submit.

FAQ
Is Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat worth grading?
Only if recent PSA 10 sales are above $1,258.80. That is the break-even at the TCGplayer raw market price of $1,000.59 (as of Oct 20, 2026) with PSA Express grading ($199.00), $25.00 shipping and 13.25% selling fees. The median of 24 recent PSA 10 eBay sales (Oct 13 – Oct 19, 2026, listed on PriceCharting) is $2,487.50, above that break-even. We never estimate graded prices: these are real sold listings, and the calculator’s graded value is editable.
How was the Van Gogh Pikachu promo distributed?
Through the Van Gogh Museum’s Pokémon Adventure activity and as a gift with Pokémon Center x Van Gogh Museum purchases while stocks lasted. The museum stopped handing it out in person in October 2023.
Which PSA service level do I need for Pikachu with Grey Felt Hat?
PSA prices each service level by the card's declared value, which should be what the graded card is worth, not its raw price. Recent PSA 10 sales have a median of $2,487.50, and a PSA 10 has to sell above $1,258.80 to beat selling raw. The cheapest level whose max value covers both is Express ($199.00 per card, max value $2,500; fees checked 2026-10-19). If recent PSA 10 sales are above $2,500, PSA may upcharge you to Super Express ($349.00, max $5,000) or higher. The calculator below picks the right level from the graded value you enter.
