Should I Grade My Kon Knueppel Rookie?
Kon Knueppel · 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball #254 · Refractor (plain, unnumbered) · Rookie Card (RC)
Short answer: Only if a PSA 10 sells for more than $142.97. At the recent eBay raw sold median of $45.00, PSA Standard grading ($59.99, the cheapest level whose $1,000 max value covers the recent PSA 10 median and that sale), $25.00 shipping and 13.25% selling fees break even at that graded sale price. Recent PSA 10 sales clear that bar (see the sold comps). Check your card’s centering and that you have the exact parallel before you pay to grade, and remember many cards come back a 9 or lower.

Median eBay sold prices for Kon Knueppel Topps Chrome Refractor #254, ungraded and by PSA grade, from sales listed on SportsCardsPro[1] in the 90 days to Oct 20, 2026. Each sale there links to its eBay listing. Only exact matches for this card and parallel count: other parallels, serial-numbered copies, autos, lots, other graders and damaged cards are left out. These are real sales, not our estimates. Grades with fewer than 3 sales are not shown.
| Grade | Median sold | Sales | Low – high | Sale dates |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Raw (ungraded) | $45.00 | 19† | $19.99 – $75.00 | Sep 19 – Oct 14 |
| PSA 10 | $631.00 | 19† | $577.00 – $855.00 | Aug 11 – Oct 8 |
| PSA 9 | $74.00 | 16† | $62.00 – $102.50 | Aug 13 – Oct 12 |
| PSA 8 | $40.00 | 3 | $30.00 – $55.00 | Aug 1 – Sep 11 |
† Understated count: SportsCardsPro lists only the most recent 20 to 30 sales for each grade, so these lists cover just the dates shown (often a few weeks) and the real 90-day count is higher.
Raw price: there is no TCGplayer-style price feed for sports cards, so the calculator uses the eBay raw sold median: $45.00 from 19† clean raw sales, Sep 19 – Oct 14, 2026, low $19.99 and high $75.00, via SportsCardsPro[1], as of Oct 20, 2026. Raw listings rarely state condition, so a sharp copy may sell for more and a flawed one for less.
Break-even check: the PSA 10 median, $631.00[1], is $488.03 above this page’s $142.97 break-even, so a PSA 10 selling at that price would beat selling raw.
Our take: At the recent PSA 10 median ($631.00), a 10 would net about $423.36 more than selling raw at the $45.00 eBay raw sold median, after PSA Standard grading ($59.99), $25.00 shipping and 13.25% selling fees. At the PSA 9 median ($74.00), a 9 would net about $59.83 less than selling raw (also PSA Standard, $59.99). Grading only pays if your chance of a 10 is better than about 12% (assuming anything less comes back a 9, which is optimistic), so submit only sharp, well-centered copies.[1]
PSA 10 odds: we don’t know this card’s own PSA 10 rate. As a rough average, 41.2% of 2020s sports cards PSA graded came back a 10 (February 2026 data)[4]. That is an average across all sports cards, not this card’s odds. Your copy’s centering, corners and surface matter more.

Counting on a PSA 10? It needs about 55/45 front centering (PSA 9: about 60/40). Measure your card's centering from a photo before you pay to grade.

Make sure you have the right card
- 2025-26 Topps Chrome Basketball has both a plain Refractor and a separate look-alike parallel called the “Basketball Refractor”. A PSA 10 of the plain Refractor recently sold for a median of $631.00, against $349.00 for the Basketball Refractor (see the look-alike table below). This page is for the plain Refractor only.[1][2]
- The plain base #254 has no rainbow sheen and its back doesn’t say Refractor. It sells for under $30 raw, so this page doesn’t price it.[1]
- Image Variations (different photo), color and wave refractors (many serial-numbered), X-Fractor, Geometric, Raywave, Pulsar, Frozenfractor and Superfractor copies are other cards. So are Topps Chrome Sapphire and flagship Topps.[1]
- General guidance for any card: PSA says a Gem Mint 10 needs four sharp corners, full original gloss, no staining and centering within about 55/45 on the front and 75/25 on the back.[3] Chrome and Prizm cards often show surface scratches and print lines under a light, so check both sides. Measure centering with the centering checker and read the PSA grading guide before you submit.

FAQ
Is the Kon Knueppel Topps Chrome Refractor #254 worth grading?
Only if recent PSA 10 sales are above $142.97. That is the break-even at the eBay raw sold median of $45.00 (19† sales via SportsCardsPro, as of Oct 20, 2026) with PSA Standard grading ($59.99), $25.00 shipping and 13.25% selling fees. The median of 19† recent PSA 10 eBay sales (Aug 11 – Oct 8, 2026, listed on SportsCardsPro) is $631.00, above that break-even. We never estimate graded prices: these are real sold listings, and the calculator’s graded value is editable.
Is the Knueppel “Basketball Refractor” the same card as the Refractor?
No. They look alike, but they are separate parallels with separate prices. Recent PSA 10 sales have a median of $631.00 for the plain Refractor and $349.00 for the Basketball Refractor, so using the wrong one’s prices can change the answer.
Which PSA service level do I need for the Kon Knueppel Topps Chrome Refractor #254?
PSA prices each service level by the card's declared value, which should be what the graded card is worth, not its raw price. Recent PSA 10 sales have a median of $631.00, and a PSA 10 has to sell above $142.97 to beat selling raw. The cheapest level whose max value covers both is Standard ($59.99 per card, max value $1,000; fees checked 2026-10-19). If recent PSA 10 sales are above $1,000, PSA may upcharge you to Priority ($79.99, max $1,500) or higher. The calculator below picks the right level from the graded value you enter.
What are the odds my Kon Knueppel card gets a PSA 10?
We don’t know this card’s own PSA 10 rate. As a rough average, 41.2% of 2020s sports cards PSA graded came back a PSA 10 (February 2026 data, reported by CardGrade.io from GemRate/Cardlines). That is an average across all sports cards, not this card’s odds.
